Rely Foundation launches new project to rehabilitate wounded servicemen: a chance for a fulfilling life
War is not only about fighting, it is also about thousands of people whose lives and health have been fundamentally changed as a result of injuries. Rely Foundation understands how important rehabilitation is for military personnel to return to a full life. That is why we are launching a new project aimed at providing high-quality and affordable assistance to wounded defenders of Ukraine.
Why individual rehabilitation?
- Inability of the state system. Unfortunately, the state medical system is unable to cope with the influx of wounded military personnel. A lack of funds, qualified specialists, and modern equipment makes rehabilitation inaccessible to many.
- The need for a comprehensive approach. Rehabilitation is not just about restoring physical health. It should also include psychological and social adaptation. An individual approach allows you to take into account all the needs and characteristics of each patient.
- A dignified life. People who risked their lives defending their homeland deserve the best possible care. Individual rehabilitation provides a chance to return to a full life and active participation in society.
We speak of state failure without negativity, because few healthcare systems in the world could effectively cope with such a load. Just remember the beginning of the COVID-19 epidemic, when even “developed” systems, such as the US and Canada, were on the verge of collapse.
In our war, there are a lot of seriously wounded, with mine and explosive injuries, limb amputations, spinal injuries, and other serious injuries. There are many reasons for this: the nature of the war itself, the long evacuation time, surgical amputations due to a tourniquet applied for too long, overloaded stabilization points and field hospitals, which also have to be kept far from the line of combat contact, because the Russians ignore any international conventions and rules of warfare.
There are also many problems at the level of legislation, regulations, and the general regulation of this issue. But this is a strategic level, and the state should work at the strategic level, and we, as concerned citizens, charitable organizations, and unions, will solve urgent problems at the tactical level.
That’s why we launched this fundraiser and partnership.
Our goal: to raise 2,000,000 UAH to help more than 50 wounded servicemen receive quality rehabilitation.
Our partner: Next Step Ukraine rehabilitation center.
Why did we choose Next Step Ukraine?
- Experience and professionalism. The center has been operating since 2018 and has extensive experience in the rehabilitation of wounded soldiers.
- Modern equipment and qualified specialists. Next Step Ukraine is equipped with the latest technology and has a team of experienced rehabilitation specialists, psychologists and other specialists.
- Lack of bureaucracy. The center does not create artificial obstacles to receiving assistance. To begin rehabilitation, only a military ID/ID card/certificate and documentary confirmation of the need for rehabilitation are required.
- Individual approach. Rehabilitation at Next Step Ukraine is built taking into account the needs and characteristics of each patient.
- Duration of rehabilitation. Unlike state institutions, where rehabilitation is limited to 21 days, Next Step Ukraine provides assistance until the patient’s full recovery.
